A Special Day

This is my first ever english blog post and it will be about EDUSAVE AWARDS CEREMONY.

Today is quite a memorable day. It was the day where I went to the Bedok Community Centre to receive my Edusave Scholarship. It's a cash award given out to encourage the top 10% of each school's cohort to encourage us to continue to strive for better results. As the Victorian Motto goes " Nil Sine Labore" Nothing really can be accomplished without hard work so I should work harder to achieve better results.

When I arrived, I hardly saw anyone I knew, surprisingly. I think it's because most Victorians stay around the Simei area and not Bedok. However, I recognised a victorian as he was wearing the school tie and his name is Francis from class 2a. I am elated however, ignored him as I suspected the he don't know me. If I went up to him, I will be very embarrassed.

We were supposed to report at 7pm, while the ceremony would be at 7.45pm. Of course, you might be asking yourself, "What exactly did you do for almost an hour?". The more seasoned people were reading books, obviously used to the monotonous atmosphere. This being only my first time receiving the scholarship, I wasn't as "experienced" and I could only look around and act dumb:(

Before that though, there was something very interesting that happened. I mistook my seat no. as C 00 46.I immediately seat down when I found the seat. However it was very embarrassing when a guy turned up and said that I took his seat. I checked the letter and found out that my seat was actually C 00 47. Someone on duty brought me to my seat. Needless to say I was quite angry at being made a fool for nothing :(

Eventually, it was my turn to go up and receive my award. One of the things which could be improved, I felt, was the fact that no one really knew what to do. Do you bow towards the audience or don't you? For me I just decided, oh well, since everyone was bowing I'll just follow suit.So yeah. It was a rather boring process as there were over 200 receipients. I am famished as I did not eat any thing before I came as I had Chinese Orchestra until 7.00pm and I had to rush here. When they finally announced that we could go and have some refreshments, I immediately put my certificate in my bag and when there. I think Francis when home after the ceremony as I did not see him after that.

DMoral of the story: Always pack a book when you know something's going to be long and boring. Since everyone's crazy about twilight now, maybe picking it up isn't a bad choice. :) It's not really a moral per se, but considering that it was just one long award ceremony I think it's not so bad to be able to pick something out from it.

One last photo:

I did not show the cheque in case anyone thinks I'm bragging(Just a precaution). That's all for now, see you guys tmrw!
